Available courses

This unit describes the competencies required by a building technician to apply measurement,
estimation and costing of works. It involves measuring the building works, i carry out
tendering process, record variations, preparing payment valuations, preparing project
appraisals and cost construction project.

This unit cover the principles required by a building technician in acquiring knowledge, skills
and attitude required in building Superstructure works which largely include: Erection of
structural elements, carrying out construction wall works, upper floor construction,
construction wall bridging openings and Erection of structural elements.

This unit, Perform Building Superstructure Works II, builds upon the foundational knowledge and practical skills acquired in the earlier stages of the program. It focuses on the advanced methods and procedures involved in constructing the upper parts of a building’s structure above the substructure.

Learners will gain hands-on experience and technical understanding in executing critical components of the superstructure, including the construction of walls, columns, beams, floors, and staircases using a range of materials and techniques. Emphasis is placed on adherence to safety standards, structural integrity, and the interpretation of working drawings and specifications.

The course is designed to prepare students for real-world site work and project execution, ensuring they are equipped with the competencies required to supervise and perform complex construction tasks effectively.

This unit covers the principles required by a building technician in acquiring knowledge, skills
and attitude required to Carry Out Building Construction Work Finishes which largely include:
Carrying out wall finishes, floor finishes and installation of ceiling.

Carrying Out Building Finishes III is an advanced unit that equips learners with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to execute high-quality finishes in building construction. This unit focuses on the selection, preparation, and application of final surface treatments that enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of built structures.

Students will be introduced to a wide range of finishing techniques and materials, including advanced plastering, painting, tiling, cladding, ceiling installations, and decorative finishes. The unit also emphasizes surface preparation, finish compatibility, safety procedures, and quality control.

Through hands-on training and project-based learning, learners will be able to interpret specifications, ensure workmanship standards, and manage resources effectively to achieve desired finish outcomes in both residential and commercial buildings.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this unit, learners should be able to:

  • Identify and apply appropriate finishing materials and methods for various surfaces.

  • Prepare surfaces for finishing according to industry standards.

  • Execute complex finishing works such as wall cladding, decorative plastering, and suspended ceilings.

  • Ensure quality and durability in finishes while adhering to safety and environmental guidelines.

  • Interpret finish schedules and work specifications effectively.
